Silene Razo
"The way I move is influenced by my feelings, my life experiences and my origins"
Silene Razo is a versatile dancer, actress and dance educator. Originally from Mexico and attaining a Bachelor's degree in Communications, she started her career as a Radio and Television presenter and then became a professional dancer, after graduating in 2014 from Contempodanza School in Mexico City.
She has had the opportunity to dance on international stages, highlights include: winning the Grand Prix of the New Prague Dance Festival, with a contemporary dance choreography lead by Cecilia Lugo, Czech Republic 2014, and two concert tours throughout Japan as a dancer and choreographer with the Perez Prado Orchestra in 2015 and 2016.
Since she arrived in Vancouver in 2017, Silene has been actively working on different
projects including: Interdisciplinary and Contemporary Dance performances, Illusion, Samba and Dance Cabaret shows, a Dance film, and Assisting Choreography for a theater play.
Also, she has performed in festivals such as: Dancing on the Edge, 12 Minutes Max and The Fringe Festival in Winnipeg and Vancouver.
She is currently dancing in Paper Playground, an interactive performance for young audiences directed by Julie Lebel, with whom recently completed a tour in Ontario participating in the WeeFestival, KinderFest and Niagara Children's Festival.
As an independent artist, Silene is developing a piece about Motherhood, this project has been supported by Cada West BIPOC Residency in 2022, where she began the exploration on her first solo work.
During this year, (2024) she started collaborating with artist Judith Colibri, becoming "Ome Collective" creating dance works and performances.
